Hi Everybody!
I'll start off by saying this week was TOUGH!! It was pretty good...but hard stuff.
Last P-Day we watched the movie "Coco" with our whole zone and it was so fun . Then, the rest of the
day normal P-Day stuff.
Thursday
and Friday: I don't remember... but probably just normal missionary stuff. Weekly planning and all that stuff.
Saturday:
ROUGH STUFF, man! We started out the day with normal studies until 1:00pm. Then, we went out and visited some people in Area Book (book kept from previous missionaries about the area, people, etc.), We visited this older lady
and we only planned to be there for like 30 mins and she talked our ears off! We were stuck there for an hour and a half and we only got about
2 sentences in, which was from a scripture Sister Nield and I shared. Ha Ha. I don't even know
what she said the conversation was everywhere. My head really hurt after that.
After that, we visited some more people and then went tracting from 4:00pm - 5:30pm that night. This is
were the rough stuff comes in.... Here in Okotoks the houses and neighborhoods are
pretty nice but the people aren't so humble and also not the nicest. Ha ha. About
30 mins into tracting, we get to this house and a man opens the door and we tell
him who we are and ask if we can share a message about Jesus Christ... and this
mans POPS OFF! He
was so angry! He went off on us, and started yelling and saying some stuff
that isn't appropriate to repeat, but his point was that he hates Christ and if
he ever saw Him he was going into detail about what he would do to Him, and he
said "you stupid young girls out here wasting your time...go back to where you came from and stop this nonsense." He
said some more things but i don't remember it all. Sister Nield and I didn't know
what to do, so we just stared at each other when the door slammed and didn't say
anything for like 30 seconds. Ha ha. After
that, I needed a brown paper bag to breathe in, or an inhaler.
We
shook it off and kept tracting and just slammed door after slammed door. I'm getting better at understanding that people have their agency and learning how to
take rejection, but right when we were almost done tracting we knocked on a
lady's door and she yelled at us because we woke her sleeping baby. Ha ha. We felt so bad and tracting was done after that. But yeah... by the end of the day I was drop dead tired, stressed, discouraged, and then homesickness set in.
To end the day, I said my nightly prayer and got on my knees and just cried all the
tears I had left to cry. I felt small, and not right for the task. I told the Lord my feelings and just
cried it out.
The
next day we woke up and did regular studies. In my personal study I was reading
and came across Alma 26:27 and it says " Now when our hearts were
depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and
said: Go amongst thy brethern, the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine
afflictions, and i will give unto you success."
I
was comforted and I felt so much better! My testimony grew of prayer and I know the Lord will always comfort us when we turn to Him. So yeah, my attitude
was changed and was ready to start a new day. PLUS my Christmas package came later that day...So it was like Christmas Day all over again. Ha ha. It was awesome!
Sunday: a normal Sunday. I cover two wards, and regular Family Ward and a Young Single Adult (YSA) Ward. YSA is still just as
weird here, in case anyone is wondering. Ha ha. The
2 hour change doesn't affect us though because we the Family Ward at 9:00am and the YSA at 12pm. So it's 4 hours for me still !😉
Monday:
New years Eve! A normal day. We thought we would have a curfew because of craziness
but we didn't. LOL. President wasn't concerned, but around 7:30pm we got home
early and studied until 9:00pm. We also watched some cute little fireworks from outside
our apartment window it was fun! We also went down to the sister's apartment below us and we popped some sparkling
cider and did some face masks and talked about our favorite moments of 2018, as well as our goals for 2019. Two of the sisters have only about six months left... so they were planning their weddings and telling us we all had to come. Ha ha. I was dying.
Tuesday:
normal day - we stopped at an older couples house we found in the Aread Book. We read
their history. Apparently, they took the missionaries lessons not too long ago and they
know it's true... but they won't commit. So frustrating! We
wanted to talk to them and they LOVE the missionaries! They opened the door
and asked our names and pretty much threw us inside and just started chatting
up a STORM! They are crazy funny, especially the wife. I've learned that Canadians LOVE to talk about America and always try to get us
to talk trash about Donald Trump and they go offffff! Ha ha. Anyway, the wife was just
going on about Trump and how he's ruining Canada too and I was just going cross-eyed. She wouldn't stop and she knew we weren't allowed to talk politics. She literally asked if we were allowed and we said, "no" and she still was going on
and on and on... LOL. Then she was telling us her youngest daughter's business and she
was whispering because sthe daughter was sleeping downstairs and she was telling us all about
how her boyfriend broke up with her yesterday and she was all sad, etc. She was like, "HEY you guys should all go out to a hockey game in downtown and
meet some cuties! you Sisters need to live a little and go meet some nice
boys!" Ha ha. She was about to go wake up her daughter to go take us out and we
had to hurry and tell her that we weren't interested. Ha ha. It was so weird.
Then
when we finally were leaving she said, "Hugs really don't count unless they
are 30 seconds long!" So, she grabbed my companion, Sister Neild, and hugged her for 30 seconds (counting out loud). Sister Nield was so embarrassed her face was so
red and then she hugged me and it was the longest 30 seconds of my life. It was
all just so weird and she was crazy. I have to say, as a missionary - you meet crazy funny people everyday and its always a treat.
Today is P-Day, and now that Sisters can wear dress pants... you know I had to
get some to flex on everybody. But no - really - they are cute! I'll send pictures.
Today we are just going to do normal P-Day stuff and have a dinner appointment - all that good stuff!
This
week was good and I learned a lot. I know that the Lord is with us in all
that we do. I
love you guys and thank you for the emails! Talk to you next week and i hope new years at home was great and you partied hard. Love u all so much! ❤
Love,
Sister Wilson

p.s. Something
funny about Canada - since its so cold and we got more snow this week, people ski on the
sidewalks all around town. They get their big Husky dogs and tie a rope to
them and then grab the rope and hold on to them while they ski around town. They act like its normal, like riding a bike around town. Ha ha. It's hilarious actually.
