Week 6: A Good Week Despite an Icy Patch

Yo, Yo, Yo! How is everyone?! I'm living it up here! This week was awesome and good stuff happening!

Thursday: weekly planned until 4pm, then we went with the elders to give some kids a blessing.  IF was cool!

Friday: FUNNY/ SCARY DAY
Normal missionary stuff in the morning and then we went to a nursing home to help a lady move in to her room. To say the least, she is a collector of many things (also known as a hoarder) Ha. Ha.  There was literally 2 inches of space throughout her whole apartment to walk and there was piles of boxes up to the ceiling.  When wee walked in and saw it, our jaws dropped.. But she put us to WORK and I rolled up my sleeves and skirt and got to it. My back was sore the next day!  The other set of sisters that live below us, came the next day and helped us. It was good and she really appreciated it so I was happy!

So after we got done helping Roseanne, it was about 6 pm and it was dark outside already but we went tracting in a sketchy neighborhood.  We were there for about an hour and a half and it was freezing.  It takes us forever to move around because the ice is all over the ground and we are like Bambi on ice. Ha Ha Ha.  We were trying our hardest not to fall. Anyway, we gut done with the apartment complex and we had about 15 mins left to tract.... so I was like, "Ok. Let's go to the neighborhood across the street and do the rest there". So we start walking (side note: Sister Neild and I have a bet that whenever one of us falls on the ice, the person who fell owes the other person Tim Hortons - the best hot coco ever, by the way!)  Anyway, we start walking to the other neighborhood and we are walking down a drive way and the ground is nothing but a sheet of ice.  So... we get about half way and Sister Neild starts to fall for like 5 seconds and her ankles are being broken just doing everything she can to not fall down. Ha! Ha! Ha! So she's falling... and it all happens too fast and she falls and does a 360 and BELLY FLOPS SO HARD on the ice! For real!  It was such a hard fall!  So, I get down and I'm like "OMG! Are you okay?!" and I start laughing.  I'm like, "HAHAHA! YOU OWE ME TIM HORTONS. Yes!" and she's kinda laughing and I'm laughing, and I can't see her face because she's on her stomach, and so she lays her head down on the ice.  I thought she was just chilling before she tried to get back up, so I'm laughing away and blah blah blah.  I'm looking at her laying down and she starts shaking and I thought she was laughing silently, so she starts shaking and I get down and I'm like, "Ha Ha Ha. After this, we're totally going to Timmys!".  But she's not answering.  So like 5 seconds pass, and I just hear this SUPER loud snoring. I'm so confused and I'm like, "what the heck?!".  Ha Ha.  I thought Sister Neild was pranking me and pretending to be alseep. But her face is on the ice and I'm like, "Dude!  Get up. The ice is cold". Ha ha ha. But she doesn't get up and she's snoring soooo loud. So I kinda get worried. I start poking her and then started shaking her and shes just not responding.  So I start shaking her pretty hard and some seconds later,  she wakes up super fast and is like "Where am I? What happened?!" and she looks terrified!! She starts laugh/crying, and then I start laugh/crying and we just sit there.  I  told her what happened - she straight blacked out! We were scared and she was banged up a little, but she didn't hit her head. So I drove us home and we called the Mission Nurse and she checked her out and said she's okay.  Sister Neild had a heart condition when she was little and that made her have a vasovagal response. So she's ok,  Apparently she has passed out a couple times in the past. Afterward we laughed about it and discussed that she is pretty much a fainting goat. I was just dying at the fact that my companion was knocked out cold on the ice... and I'm just standing there laughing saying, "Ha! Ha! Ha!. You ow me Tim Hortons coco!"

I felt bad.  I didn't know , so I ended up buying her Timmy's instead. Ha ha.

Only, I didn't actually buy it because the worker was trying to holler at me, so he gave me my drinks for free and made it a large with a bag of donuts :)  Ha Ha.  W are laughing at that too

Saturday: Found a new investigator ! A cute mom and her baby. She is the sweetest and I'm really excited to meet with her.

Also another story... This week was crazy. Honestly. We were stopping at a potential investigator's house one night and it was really foggy outside.  We could hardy see and pulled up to the house and said a prayer.  We were getting ready to hop out after our prayer but we heard the back car door open and this lady (wearing all black) just stands there for a second and then starts to get in.  My first instinct was to open the door because I was going to start running.  Ha ha.  I straight thought we were gonna get kidnapped!  I'm such a bad companion!  I was ready to run away and leave Sister Neild behind :( Ha ha.  But the lady looked up and saw us and she was like, "oh. Hmmm... I think I'm in the wrong car." and just gets up and leaves.  We were in shock and just terrified.  But we didn't get kidnapped!

Sunday: Home Ward, then drove to our Young Single Adult  Ward in Calgary. It was a good day!

Monday: SWEET day! We street contacted in Calgary!  It was awesome!  It's a little scary just walking up to random people on the street and on trains and talking to them, but I love it honestly!
We spent the day riding the trains and buses contacting everyone. Definitely sketchy though.  We got asked a couple times by druggies for money, but we feel pretty protected as missionaries so it's alright. And also, it's scary going there because there is soooo many people walking around town and hopping from train to train. There was a lot of men staring. The scariest thing was probably when I smiled at a man and asked how he was doing and he said good.  I started talking to him but got really creepy vibes so I ended the conversation and when we walked away he started following us. So we hopped on the train and lost him thankfully!  ha ha. But Sister Neidl stopped and said "Hey Sister Wilson - I don't know if you've noticed... but i think you are too cute because the guys won't stop looking at you like they want to steal you. We can leave if you want..."  Ha ha.  But we decided to keep going and it was ok! But yeah, it's a little scary doing that.  However, we found  4 potential investigators and I was on a roll talking to everybody and their doggies. We stopped at Anderson and Queesnsland Station and walked up and down a big bridge for about an hour, stopping people and talking to everyone and their doggies. It was awesome!

Tuesday: Zone conference! It was sweet! It was really long and lasted from 10am to 5pm, but it was cool and I learned a lot!

Then after that we stopped by a less active member's house. His name is Elvis and he and his family is from the Philippines. He is a member but his wife and kids aren't. His wife isn't interested, but his little girl is so interested and she is SO sweet and cute! His oldest son just arrived in Canada in November and he has another son back in the Philippines going to university there.

We had a really awesome lesson and his kids loved it and were asking a bunch of questions! So we are teaching them! We watched a video about faith in a Mormon Message, and afterward the little girl was like "Daddy we should pray and read our scriptures and show the Lord our faith so we can see a miracle and save up enough money to visit our brother in the Philippines!" It was so cute and it made me so happy. So, they are trying to save up to visit the brother back home. We are also teaching an Iranian family as well. They are a little harder to work with and don't speak very good English, but we are working with them and its awesome ! Then to finish the night some of the guys from our YSA Ward took us out to dinner. It was really fun and they told us all of their crazy mission stories and it was the best!

I've seen lots of miracles this week and I just love the work. I'm coming to understand how important this work is to the Lord and I'm so happy to be apart of it! I studied some really great things this week and it was so good. I'm so happy! I'm excited for this new week and I know that as I put all my faith in the Lord and trust that we can see miracles everyday, that it will happen!

Sorry for the long email this week!  Love you guys. We'll talk next week!
